Here are some ideas of activities to complete at home with your school-aged child to promote underlying skills for executive functioning, handwriting, visual skills, bilateral motor integration, and/or motor coordination skills:
Board games
Battleship - can show both boards when learning how to play
Uno
Monopoly Junior and build up to Monopoly
Sorry
Candy Land
Connect 4
Tic-tac-toe
Etc.
Legos with following instructions
Ball activities
Catching/throwing/dribbling a small ball
Coordinated motor tasks
XC skiing
Soccer at the dome
Snowshoeing
Downhill skiing
Rollerblading or rollerskating
Swimming
Jumping jacks
Crossing the midline movements
Coordinated dancing (e.g., line dancing)
Yoga for kids
Bear crawls
Crab walks
Rolling
Etc.
Handwriting practice
Practicing writing words/numbers/letters on paper
Completing Youtube “how to draw” videos or booklets with these tasks
Drawing, painting, coloring
Handwriting Without Tears:
Writing out letters and numbers and words in:
Shaving cream
Salt in a baking sheet
Making them out of clay or legos
